We hold two types of parties at Glenboig Neighbourhood house: paid-for parties, where people hire the hall for birthday parties and such; and community-event parties, which mark the milestones of the year – Easter, Halloween and Christmas – and are open to all.
We host a lot of parties in the Community Centre every year, mainly birthday parties, and offer an entertainment package on top of the hiring of the hall. The parties have proved very popular and the Centre is a great place where kids can really enjoy themselves in a safe environment.
The year’s events started quietly, with the Easter Bunny popping up everywhere over the course of a massive Easter egg hunt. The children had lots of fun searching around the Village Park to find their prizes, and refreshments, games and entertainment were provided in the Community Centre for everyone who took part. A huge thanks again to our fantastic volunteers who helped make the event a fantastic success.
In October we hosted our renowned Halloween Walk which is a big draw for families living nearby. The kids and adults (!) quickly learned the true meaning of terror, thanks to the dedication of our children’s and young people’s groups who did the art work, planning and acting in the tableaux. Thanks to our wonderful volunteers who helped in so many ways, and to our café’s outside catering, stewards and walk leaders; we all had a fantastic time.
